Touring St. Augustine

On Thursday, Drew and I spent most of the day walking around historic St. Augustine, enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells. The weather was perfect and the company was even better.

We saw...

...the St. Augustine waterfront, with lots of birds and sailboats.

...Mill Top Cafe. It was junk food overload with nachos and french fries, but it was quite tasty and fueled the rest of our day's wanderings.

...the Castillo de San Marcos, a Spanish military fort. Drew loved the old history; I loved the new green stuff growing all over it.

...plenty of palm trees.

...the Fuente de los Canos de San Francisco. The fountain is a replica of one in a Spanish neighborhood in San Francisco and was a gift to the City of St. Augustine from the City of Avilles, Spain - the birthplace of St. Augustine's founder, Pedro Menendez.

...the oldest wood school house in the U.S. It's actually quite impressive considering St. Augustine's heat and humidity should have decomposed the thing a long time ago.

What a fun day; what a beautiful city.
