It is finished.
Really. It is. We've been letting the idea of graduation settle on us since Drew picked up his cap and gown on Wednesday, but in most moments, it's still a little bit hard to believe. Our college days are finally and officially over. We've been working and planning for this day as long as we've been married, and then bam. All of a sudden, here it is. How weird. Here's a look at Drew's sometimes surreal, always celebratory last days as a student at BYU:
It was a great day - the weather was perfect, the ceremony wasn't too terribly long or painfully dull, and Drew looked super handsome in that graduation get-up. In the nature of ceremonies, yesterday added a lot of closure to Drew's time at BYU and our time in Provo - this adventure of ours in the land of Utah finally feels truly finished.
We're really lucky to not only be moving away from something, but towards something grand as well. Drew accepted a job offer with Dan Ryan Builders in Raleigh, so in two weeks, we'll be packing up our little lives and heading east - something else we've been planning for and hoping for for what seems like all too long. This change moves us closer to both of our families, good friends, the many charms of the south, the Appalachian Mountains, and the beach, so, needless to say, we're unbelievably thrilled and excited. There is, of course, some bitter mixed in with the sweet - we're also leaving behind the magnificent Rockies, many of the friends we've made here, and a lot of family, too. Not to mention BYU Creamery ice cream, bug-free living, BYU sports, and my gynecologist (Seriously. She's great.). But all is as it should be. Drew has outgrown the life of a college student, and together we've outgrown the phase of our lives that occurred against the backdrop of Provo, Utah. Ready or not, it's time for whatever comes next. And we're definitely ready.
... a little cracked after his final undergraduate final ...
... a BYU breakfast before graduation ...
... Tom, Drew, and Chris, waiting for the ceremony to start ...
... BYU Construction Management - Class of 2013 ...
... the happy graduate ...
... wandering around the BYU grounds after graduation ...
... sayonara, wretched Testing Center ...
