Punkin' Carvin'

After a rather lazy Saturday around our house, Josh and Brittany got us up and about with an invitation to carve pumpkins with them. We haven't seen much (any?) of these two since they got married earlier this summer, so we were excited to get together for some festive fall fun. We made some gingerbread cupcakes, bought some Brigham's Brew (a distinctly Utahn brand of root beer), picked out the perfect pumpkins, and concocted the spookiest designs we could muster. Here's a little look the process and the outcome:

Ooooh. Spooky, huh? Actually, I think they're kind of pretty. What's creepy are the fly larvae that I just know are already living and growing in them, so close to our front door. Oh well. In a college town there are bound to be some hoodlums willing to cart them off for us before too long.
