The Road Less Traveled By

On Sunday morning, we got up bright and (relatively) early and headed out for some sabbath in the midst of Creation in the form of a little hike up the Alpine Loop. Stewart Falls was our intended destination, but we never actually made it there. Instead, we (accidentally) took a road less traveled - much less traveled, as in never traveled - and had ourselves a right little adventure among the beautiful fall foliage and crisp fall air of the Wasatch Mountains.

We are now a proud, 2-camera family, so be prepared for many pictures of me taking pictures. 

Right about here we got off the beaten path and ended up on an old, overgrown service road leading to who knows where. Then, by some twist or turn, we found ourselves on the Aspen Grove trail to Mt. Timpanogos, which embarks from the same parking lot as the trail to Stewart Falls (see here and here and here for installments of an intentional Mt. Timp adventure; not something we want to do on an accidental whim). We were never lost enough to be concerned, but I don't think we'll be making this mistake again, at least not unintentionally. But just look at what we might have missed... 

By retracing our steps (and trying every possible route), we finally rediscovered the correct trail and made our way home, safe and sound and only better for the experience.

Life's about the journey, anyway, right? And a good journey it was.
