Labor Day Weekend

We've made the most of this long Labor Day weekend, with plenty of labor-free activities, and just a few labor-intensive ones.

Drew had class in Salt Lake on Saturday morning, and then we spent most of the rest of the day grilling and napping and hanging out with Lori, who spent the night with us. Sunday morning was leisurely, too, with breakfast and a walk and lunch before church in the afternoon. Since it wasn't a school night, we spent Sunday evening in Canyon Glen Park up Provo Canyon. We built a fire, roasted hot dogs and marshmallows, and chatted the day away. There is an "open fire" ban in the park - we're still not sure if that includes fire pits or not, so we stick to building our wood fire in the grills designed for charcoal. There were lots (and lots and lots) of families in the park when we got there, but as the sun set, the crowd dissipated and it was just us in a big, dark field with our little grill fire and stories to keep up warm.

On Monday, Christie and Tyler and kiddos came to Provo for a picnic and some fun in North Park. It was a great day to be outside, and those little nieces and nephew of ours were as cute and entertaining as ever.

We spent the rest of Labor Day at Etta's old house, mowing and cleaning and making sure it looks like home-sweet-home for its new owners on Thursday. We also started making our very own, very first kitchen table from some great white wood Drew collected at the always-lovely price of free this summer. We'll have to post pictures of it if it turns out, and maybe we'll invite the whole neighborhood over for dinner, too.

Twas a good weekend, and, since a short week always follows a long weekend, we're already more than halfway to the next one. Hip, hip, hooray.
