Storms on Squaw

The past few nights have been stormy ones in Utah Valley, with lightning and thunder and rain and everything. A good storm is really a rather rare occurrence around these parts, so tonight, we headed up Provo Canyon to Squaw Peak to enjoy the cooler weather and ominous skies from a much closer vantage point.

Eventually, the skies let loose a little, so we had to make a mad dash for the car and a quick get-away, or else be stuck, sopping wet, on the top of a mountain, a little too close to the churning sky for comfort. 

On our way down, the rain slacked off and we stopped to check out what looked a lot like Mount Doom in one direction and calmer, orange skies in the other.  

This weather has made for some great sleeping lately, and it produced a fun evening adventure for us on Squaw Peak. It has also made the valley feel just a little more fall-y, and no one around here is complaining about that.
